A series of events dedicated to children and families, designed to introduce little ones and others to the original collection of La Wolfsoniana art and design works. An opportunity to observe the museum with a curious and unusual gaze, on a journey of discovery that brings the collection to life in an active and narrative way.
The Wolfsoniana, founded in 2005 by former American diplomat Mitchell Wolfson, known as Micky, is a museum dedicated to art, design, and visual culture between 1870 and 1945, one of the most significant periods of change in our recent history.
A collection that speaks and tells of modernity and innovation: art Noveau, art Deco, from futurism to rationalism up to the origins of “Made in Italy”.
In line with the philosophy of its creator M. Wolfson, “Not art for art’s sake, but art as a function of ideas”, the collection, which is not a museum but a “Documentarium”, recounts the changes that occurred in the period between the Industrial Revolution and the Second World War, in which the works testify to the depths of everyday life, the aesthetic uses and tastes that give rise to contemporary civilization.
Within this rich heritage, the guided sabato@Wolfsoniana itineraries offer thematic itineraries that invite you to look at the works from different perspectives, bringing art, design, history, and everyday life into dialogue through storytelling, active observation, and play. The works become inspiration for telling stories, observing details, recognizing forms and materials, stimulating the curiosity of children and adults and transforming the museum into a space for exploration, play, and discovery.

Remember that the ticket purchased here is valid only for participation in the workshop activity, while at the entrance to the Wolfsoniana Museum you will have to collect free admission tickets to access the exhibition spaces (both children and adults must have admission tickets).

- Saturday, March 14, 3:00 PM “Meet the Wolfsonian!”
We begin with an’ activity that accompanies families to an initial presentation meeting of the museum: through some symbolic works of the collection, we will learn about its history, characteristics and curiosities. Paintings, sculptures, and furnishings become the starting point for understanding the artistic movements of the late nineteenth and twentieth centuries and for understanding how art and design intertwine with everyday life.
From the meeting with the creator of the collection represented in a wax sculpture at the entrance to the museum, we will then explore landscapes in transformation in the painting “Genoa and the Western Riviera” by Franz Volpe, environments designed for children such as the “Child’s Room” and large works rich in hidden details to be discovered such as the “Pyramid Bed “by Fabio and Alberto Fabbi. The route then ends in front of a crowded scene painted by the Genoese Sexto Canegallo, in which we will search and play with expressions and emotions. Through observation games and thematic “hunts”, participants will be guided to read the works actively, discovering how art knows how to tell stories, places and eras.
- Saturday, April 18th at 3:00 PM “Everything on the table!”
We’ll learn about one of Wolfsoniana’s most curious objects: The Autarch, the ingenious table designed and patented by the Genoese Fasce, which hides a surprising system of cranks and doors waiting to be discovered… We’ll continue our journey by observing the famous Monza table service, which will allow us to guess Art Deco’s favorite shapes and decorations. We’ll take a closer look at the unusual material from the Autarchy Table Service and conclude our journey by entering a true 20th-century Art Nouveau living room, created by the Fontana company and reconstructed inside the museum: a search for detail through decorative motifs, colors, and figures that will allow us to compare the spaces of yesterday with those of today and imagine scenes of everyday life from the era.
- Saturday, May 9th, 3:00 PM “Aeropainting and Artist Flights”
Let’s discover aeropainting together, this futurist artistic style inspired by modernity and the speed of flight, designed to represent the world from an aerial perspective that celebrates contemporary aeronautical progress. Between art and technology, we will reveal through the works preserved at the museum how futurist artists in the twentieth century represented the sky, the air, and the dynamism of the twentieth century, transforming the vision from above into a new and innovative aesthetic experience: cities, fields, and moving machines, dynamic lines and vibrant colors that suggest the idea of a rapidly changing world.
We’ll discover Enrico Prampolini’s famous Italo Balbo Aeroreportrait to understand what an aeroreportrait is and how shapes and colors can convey movement, energy, and modern visions. Through a color hunt, we will observe the artist’s color choices and the messages they communicate. We will analyse the painting Great Horseman, in front of which, by comparing interpretations and emotions, we will try to reveal the meaning and expressive force of his mysterious protagonist figure and what it makes us think…
Finally, we will observe the magnificent views of the landscape represented in Giovanni Korompay’s spectacular aeropaintings, exhibited on the occasion of the anthological exhibition dedicated to him.
- Saturday, June 6th at 3:00 PM “Artist’s Objects”
A guided path that invites you to discover the most inventive and creative side of objects. Through a series of works from the museum, we will proceed with active observation to understand who conceived them, when and why, and discover the thought and idea that produced them.
The journey will show us how design has transformed common objects into extraordinary works of art, combining functionality, innovative materials, and striking shapes.
By observing furnishings designed for specific spaces, such as a chair or armchair made for twentieth-century Genoa, we will imagine who designed them, for which locations, and with what materials and techniques. We will also meet a true icon of Italian design, the Vespa 125, born as a practical and fast means of transport and become a symbol of style and modernity, but also a curious means of transport all made of wood that will be a starting point for reflecting on the relationship between form, function and imagination.
