October 20 – February 23
A series of four online meetings in which experts and researchers will illustrate how digital resources and applications, including AI-based ones, can foster school accessibility and inclusion, offering practical insights and reflections on current educational issues.
Schedule of meetings
October 20, 2026, 5-6 p.m. online
Beyond Barriers: Designing Accessibility
with Lucia Ferlino, Researcher at the Institute of Educational Technologies of the National Research Council (ITD-CNR)
The seminar adopts the perspective of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which promotes design that leaves no one behind, taking into account that individual variability is the norm and not the exception, starting with the needs of preschool, where digital use is limited and mediated by adults, up to secondary school, where compensatory tools and assistive technologies can be used independently by students.
It will also reflect on the criteria to be adopted when choosing teaching mediators that can be used by everyone, respecting each person’s needs.
November 24, 2026, 5-6 p.m. online
The Space You (Don’t) See: How the School Environment Shapes Attention and Learning in Neurodivergent Students
with Chiara Malagoli, TD Researcher at the Institute for Educational Technologies of the National Research Council (ITD-CNR)
The school environment is a key determinant of students’ learning, well-being, and socialization. The Internal Environmental Quality (IEQ) of classrooms, including lighting, acoustics, air quality, and thermal comfort, affects cognitive resources and concentration, with effects particularly relevant for neurodivergent students, such as those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD/ADD).
The seminar will present a learning environment analysis framework that integrates environmental, physiological, and cognitive dimensions, with the aim of identifying strategies to prevent sensory overstimulation and understimulation and promote attention, self-regulation, and well-being. The contribution aims to provide teachers with useful tools to promote truly inclusive teaching.
January 19, 2027, 5-6 p.m. online
Feedback in teaching practice: supporting learning and motivation
with Chiara Fante, Researcher at the Institute for Educational Technologies of the National Research Council (ITD-CNR)
Evidence from educational and neuroscience research highlights the central role of error and growth mindset in promoting learning, motivation, and skill development. Starting from these theoretical premises, the intervention focuses on the use of feedback in teaching practice. Some theoretical principles and operational proposals will be presented to design and use effective feedback, capable of supporting formative assessment, guiding students towards improvement, and promoting a learning culture that values error as a constitutive element of the learning process.
February 23, 2027, 5-6 p.m. online
Artificial Intelligence: Focus on tools and agents to support legal inclusion and teaching
with Giovanni Paolo Caruso, First Technologist at the Institute of Educational Technologies of the National Research Council (ITD-CNR)
In a context where AI-based software, particularly generative AI software, has become everyday tools, the need to develop rigorous approaches for its analysis, evaluation, and informed use emerges.
Particular attention will be paid to the analysis of selected generative Artificial Intelligence tools applicable in schools and education, with a focus on the opportunities offered for teaching, personalizing learning, and inclusion.
Solutions (commercial and otherwise) will be presented to support students with specific needs, highlighting their potential, limitations, ethical aspects, and criteria for informed use.
The aim is to promote a critical evaluation of available technologies, fostering the acquisition of skills necessary to effectively select, use and integrate AI-based applications and agents into educational, training and decision-making processes.
